Greenland Harpoon & Norsaq

The Greenland Harpoon was used by the Inuit to hunt sea mammals. This particular Harpoon was made in Canada by woodworker Bill Buckingham and gifted to James Manke. James, the owner and creator of Manke at the Wreckage, used this Harpoon while competing in the 2014 National Greenland kayaking championships and won silver in both harpooning for distance and accuracy.

The norsaq is the leverage tool for the harpoon allowing the hunting to throw further with accuracy. The norsqw traditionally has two holes on either end. One side it attached to a 45 degree pin while the other is in place to secure the norsaq and harpoon while paddling.
