Payment Options

When registering for a Manke Kayak retreat or event, you may choose to either pay in full or reserve your place with a 50% deposit.

The 50% deposit is a payment toward the total cost of your retreat or event and secures your place in the experience.

The remaining 50% balance is due 45 days before the retreat or event begins.

If you register within 45 days of the start date, full payment is required at the time of registration.

The cancellation and refund policy applies to the total cost of the retreat or event, regardless of whether you have paid in full or have only paid the 50% deposit.

An Important Note About the 50% Deposit

The 50% deposit is not a partially refundable reservation fee.

If you cancel during a period where the policy states that 50% of the total booking fee is non-refundable, the entire 50% deposit will be retained.

For example, if your experience costs $875 and you choose the 50% deposit option:

  • You pay a $437.50 deposit to reserve your place.

  • If you cancel between 46 and 95 days before the experience, the full $437.50 deposit is retained and no additional refund is due.

  • If you have paid the full $875 and cancel during the same period, $437.50 is retained and $437.50 is refunded.

The result is the same: 50% of the total experience fee is retained.

This allows the cancellation policy to apply fairly and consistently whether you choose to pay in full or reserve your place with a deposit.

Participant Cancellations

If you need to cancel your registration, the refund amount depends on how far in advance you notify us:

More than 95 days before the experience

Cancellations made more than 95 days before the retreat or event begins will receive a refund of the amount paid, minus a 7% processing fee.

46–95 days before the experience

If notice is given between 46 and 95 days before the start date, 50% of the total retreat or event fee is non-refundable.

If you paid in full, you will receive a refund of the remaining 50%.

If you paid only the 50% deposit, the entire deposit is retained and no additional payment is required.

45 days or fewer before the experience

Cancellations received 45 days or fewer before the start date are non-refundable, regardless of whether you have paid in full or by deposit.

Payment Balance

For registrations made more than 45 days before the experience, the remaining balance must be paid no later than 45 days before the start date.

If the remaining balance is not paid by this deadline, Manke Kayak reserves the right to treat the registration as cancelled, with the deposit retained in accordance with this cancellation policy.

Transfers

Participants are welcome to transfer their registration to another qualified individual at no extra charge.

The replacement participant must meet any applicable experience, age, or skill requirements and the transfer must be arranged with Manke Kayak in advance.

Transfers & Credits

If space allows, participants may transfer their registration to another retreat or event up to 45 days before their original start date. Credits granted must be used within the same operating season.

Minimum Enrolment & Retreat Viability

Each retreat or event requires a minimum number of participants in order to proceed.

If that minimum is not met, we’ll contact all registered participants at least one week prior to the start date. You may then choose between a full refund or a credit toward a future retreat or event.

Weather, Safety & Instructor Decisions

Retreats and events will proceed rain or shine. However, if instructors determine that conditions are unsafe—such as high winds, lightning, or other hazards—we reserve the right to modify, postpone, or cancel the session.

If a retreat or event is cancelled for safety reasons and cannot be rescheduled, participants will receive either a full refund or a credit.

Travel & Insurance

We highly recommend that participants purchase travel or trip cancellation insurance, especially when travelling from out of town.

Please note that we cannot reimburse costs related to travel, accommodation, or other personal expenses if a retreat or event is cancelled.

Acknowledgement

By registering for a Manke Kayak retreat or event, participants confirm that they have read, understood, and agree to these cancellation, payment, and refund terms.
