There is something powerful that happens when passion brings people into the same place.
I have spent years teaching and gathering with paddlers around the world, and the common thread is always the same. It is never the gear that makes an event meaningful. It is the people. When enthusiasts come together around a shared love, friendships form quickly, conversations go deeper, and a true sense of belonging begins to take shape.
Kayaking can be deeply personal. It is you, your kayak, your breath, and the ocean. But when that individual connection is shared within a collective of passionate paddlers, the energy becomes contagious. Breakthroughs are celebrated together. Growth feels amplified. The experience becomes bigger than any one person.
That is why I created Ukee Greenland Weekend five years ago.
My intention was simple. Remove the commercial pressure and keep the focus on skill, culture, mentorship, and connection. Passion does not need a sales pitch. It thrives in authenticity.
The event is held on one of the most historic properties in Ucluelet, British Columbia. Being there feels like stepping back into the 1960s. The raw coastal spirit of the place encourages you to slow down and settle in. Surrounded by the Pacific Ocean, it is a natural classroom and a paradise for sea kayakers ready to refine their skills.
And when the sessions wrap and the salt dries on our gear, we come together to celebrate. Not just with music and food, but with stories, laughter, and that unmistakable glow that comes from a full day on the water. It is an evening that honours the culture, the effort, and the shared journey of the weekend. A celebration of kayaking, of community, and of the tribe we are building together.
When you bring passion together in the right place, it becomes more than an event. It becomes something that stays with you long after you leave.
